Bon Voyage: What to Pack For Your Holiday in Paris

Bon Voyage: What to Pack For Your Holiday in Paris

13th Apr 2020

Paris has been one of the most popular tourist destinations for a long, long time. Whether it’s because of the dainty yet elegant cafes, the cobblestone streets, the vibrant city life, or the Eiffel Tower itself, Paris has attracted tourists from all corners of the world and continues to do so.

Things are very uncertain right now because of the coronavirus pandemic, but hey, it’s never too early to plan for your dream vacation in Paris! When the time comes (and it will), here’s what you need to keep with you on your trip.

Universal Adaptor

Unless you live in Europe, you’re going to need a universal adaptor that’s suitable for the power sockets in France. Make sure you get the right type of adapter before you land in Paris to avoid the unnecessary commotion. After all, you don’t want to plug in your dying phone battery for charging, only to find that the charger isn’t compatible with the power outlets.

European-style adapters are easily available in the US. Buy one before you board your flight.

Umbrella

The weather in Paris is unpredictable. It may be bright and sunny one minute, and start pouring buckets the next. Whether you’re traveling during peak summer months or in winter, make sure to carry an umbrella along with you.

Even if carrying an umbrella adds weight to your luggage, having one with you is better than getting drenched and falling sick midway through your dream vacation. It’ll also save you the trouble of scouting for an umbrella if it unexpectedly starts to rain while you’re out exploring the streets. You don’t have to carry a huge umbrella with you, but make sure you have one just in case it starts to pour. Also, keep a raincoat with you.

Walking Shoes or Sneakers

The perfect Instagram picture of your trip to Paris may have you wearing your favorite red dress and a pair of stilettos, but if you’re planning on covering all the sites in those heals, think again. While they’d make for a picturesque shot, they’re also going to give you a major footsore. In fact, you’ll barely be able to walk a few miles in those heels, and will most likely end up missing out on all the amazing places Paris has to offer.

Keep the heels with you for the perfect pictures, but make sure you’re wearing a pair of comfortable walking shoes or sneakers during your trip. There are way too many parks to visit, steps to climb, and museums to explore. Get a comfy pair of tennis shoes that make your traveling easier, preventing bunions and foot aches.
